| The 2017 Ford GT At Its Detroit Launch |
The Ford GT was launched nearly a year ago and set for a 2016 production run. The smooth, yet sharp, and ultra aerodynamic hyper car is the answer to Ferrari's La Ferrari, Porsche's 918, and Mclaren's P1. However, this car hasn't been making news for rumored speed or quickness. It's making news for the record purchase orders.
The Ford GT has long been rumored to carry a price tag floating around $400k US for each of the 400 cars to be built. For a car that yet to prove it self, that sounds crazy to some people, but apparently not to the masses. Ford recently opened applications to purchase the GT (no price included) and received a massive 7,000 orders for only 400 vehicles. These applicants believe they can all meet Ford's requirements to be either a first hand generation one Ford GT owner, an owner of many Ford vehicles, or a large social media personality. The real crazy thing is that if Ford doesn't feel any of them deserves the car, they could just reject every single current applicant. But should Ford just cave and build 7,000 cars if they already have the buyers. Not making 7,000 cars would mean Ford is turning away 2.8 Billion dollars in sales. While there is no solid release date for the second generation Ford GT, it's safe to say it may not matter, as all of these cars can likely be sold before they even hit the showroom.
