The first floating question that has likely been hurting sales has to be whether the GTS is an actual super car or not. It looks absolutely amazing, however, if your spending the $129,000 to get one, you may as well spring for a used SLS, as everyone wants to own a super car. Especially one that will only increase in value. The SLS with all of its blinding might, outrageous speed, long bonnet, and more than ostentatious doors was undoubtedly as super car for for its time. However, at time went on, the competition got faster and much cooler, basically demoting last generation's hyper cars to super cars and super cars to sports cars. The AMG GTS holds a rather peculiar position on that scale. The hatchback coupe has regular doors, a twin-turbo V8 power plant, and as aforementioned, a practical hatchback. It's the best of last generation, only now. This puts it in the class of today's sports cars, accompanied by the similarly priced Mclaren 570S, and Porsche 911 Turbo S. Sadly, the AMG GTS has fallen behind the times and is classified as a modern day sports car. Until the AMG Black edition drops anyways. Leave your opinion in the comment section below.
